Our core values
|
Our core values articulate who we are and what we desire to become. They describe the unique style of ministry to which God has called us. Our core values are the central beliefs that describe the heart and soul of our ministry We value God’s Word, believing that the clear teaching and practical applying of God’s truth is the primary way God challenges and changes people’s lives. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT) We value effective evangelism, believing that lost people matter to God, so reaching people for Christ must be at the heart of everything we do. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it. John 3:16-17 (NLT) We value creativity and innovation, believing that the creative use of our skills, talents, and the arts results in culturally relevant and innovative methods that attract people to Christ and His church. When I am with the Jews, I become one of them so that I can bring them to Christ. When I am with those who follow the Jewish laws, I do the same, even though I am not subject to the law, so that I can bring them to Christ. When I am with the Gentiles who do not have the Jewish law, I fit in with them as much as I can. In this way, I gain their confidence and bring them to Christ. But I do not discard the law of God; I obey the law of Christ. When I am with those who are oppressed, I share their oppression so that I might bring them to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone so that I might bring them to Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:20-22 (NLT) We value passionate spirituality, believing that a dynamic, growing, personal love relationship with Christ is God’s desire for every person, and it is only the presence and power of the Holy Spirit that enables us to live obedient, transformed lives. “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:36-38 (NLT) We value healthy families, believing that helping people order their homes after God’s design will produce strong, vital marriages and families in which to raise the next generation for Christ. Marriage is to be honored by all, and husbands and wives must be faithful to each other. Hebrews 13:4 (TEV) It takes wisdom to have a good family, and it takes understanding to make it strong. Proverbs 24:3 (NCV) We value servanthood, believing that church leaders and members exist, not to be served but to serve by using their gifts and abilities to meet the needs of others selflessly. Jesus called them together and said, “You know that in this world kings are tyrants, and officials lord it over the people beneath them. But among you it should be quite different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must become your slave. For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give My life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-28 (NLT) We value authenticity, believing that real Christianity means our hearts and lives are continually being transformed by God’s truth, and that, by living a lifestyle of authenticity and integrity, we will overcome the stereotypes of hypocrisy and insensitivity. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. James 3:17 (NASB) We value excellence, believing that all we do should be done to the glory of God, giving God our first and best in all things and striving towards unequaled quality in all we do. So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV) In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people. Colossians 3:23 (NCV) We value teamwork, believing that, by respecting and employing each other’s unique giftedness, we can more effectively and efficiently accomplish our common vision. Now all of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NLT) Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. Ecclesiastes 4:9 (TEV) We value loving relationships, believing that life in Christ is fully experienced only when shared with others and that life change happens best in the context of small groups. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 (NIV) Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the Good News that Jesus is the Christ. Acts 5:4 (NIV) |
